This is the reason for Mbeya MP Joseph Mbilinyi "SUGU" to be out of prison today

The Prison army  in the country has said that, Mbeya's MP  (Chadema), Joseph Mbilinyi 'Sugu' and Secretary of CHADEMA Regional Zone, Emmanuel Masonga have been released for exemption from Dr. President John Magufuli handed over to prisoners during the 54th anniversary of the Tanganyika Union and Zanzibar, held on April 26, 2018, at the Republic of Dodoma.

Deputy Information Officer of the Prison Army, Deputy Prison Assistant Lucas Mboje, said at the ceremony, President Magufuli gave exemption to 3,319 prisoners, among whom 585 prisoners were released on April 26, 2018.


In addition, according to the law, the President reduced one-third of the imprisonment of various jail suspects.


"Besides, 2,734 other prisoners remained in jail including Sugu and Masonga to end the remainder of the imprisonment after being granted exemption by President Magufuli," said Mboje.


Sugu and Masonga were convicted and sentenced to five months in jail on February 26 this year in Judge Mbeya's Magistrate's Court for giving insults against President John Magufuli at a public meeting held on December 30 last year at Umenge Primary School in Mbeya.


They have served the penalty for 73 days with more than a quarter of their imprisonment.
